Instructors DJ Donna Lovejoy and Fazooli run a seasonal introductory DJ workshop designed exclusively for women and non-binary/gender-creative individuals a few times a year. Learn the basics of analogue (vinyl) DJing, including the anatomy of a technical DJ setup, a brief history of DJ culture, as well as technical skills such as simple beat-matching and song transitions, as well as organizing a playlist with a flow, amongst many different musical genres. This fun and informative workshop offers the opportunity for hands-on training in a safe, non-intimidating, and supportive group setting. By the end of the workshop, you will be inspired to dig deeper into the world of DJing! Workshops were first held at Dr.Disc (upstairs), located at 20 Wilson Street, right at the heart of Downtown Hamilton, on Tuesdays from 7-9pm, at a cost of $50/per student. A Nightclub Workshop was available also, so you could learn on a big sound system at Club Absinthe, located at 38 King William Street in Hamilton from 7-9pm, at a cost of $50/per student.
